Ida bay
I was commissioned by Seattle band Ida Bay to design a logo that could be used for merchandise & collateral such as stickers, t shirts, and original album art work. We started by discussing the themes present in the music which lead to the creation of a mood board reflecting themes of isolation, alienation, and dissociation and an aesthetic of "Blade Runner meets Twin Peaks".
Color Inspiration:
Continuing the theme of “Drive meets Twin Peaks”, the color inspiration is neons, cool greys, deep blues in stark contrast to inject emotional depth.
Style Inspiration:
The style images above are all cropped portions of collages that I’ve made. I’d like to use the geometric forms, smooth gradients, and vintage photography to convey themes of isolation, alienation, hypnagogic state.
Imagery Inspiration:
Inspired by a recent trip to Japan as well as re-watching the original Blade Runner, the image inspiration is a vast spanning city scape with a central, lone inhabitant. Combining these images with the electric color scheme will express a surreal, dreamlike out of body experience, and a feeling of lucidity, and a world that feels simultaneously real and unreal.
